CECEP Outlines Key Technological Innovation and AI Initiatives at Beijing Conference

CECEP convened its 2024 Science and Technology Innovation Conference and Artificial Intelligence Meeting in Beijing on December 26. The conference emphasized the importance of technological self-reliance and highlighted CECEP's commitment to driving high-quality development through innovation, in line with the guiding principles of the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China. CECEP Chairman Song Xin addressed the conference, while General Manager Liu Jiaqiang presided over the proceedings. Deputy General Manager Cao Huabin delivered a report outlining CECEP's progress in scientific and technological innovation and artificial intelligence. Members of the CECEP leadership team were also in attendance.

The conference highlighted CECEP's achievements since the beginning of the 14th Five-year Plan. By prioritizing innovation-driven development, strengthening top-level design, cultivating innovative capacities, and optimizing institutional mechanisms, CECEP has achieved significant advancements in key technological areas. The company has successfully transitioned from quantitative accumulation to qualitative optimization of technological innovation and from individual breakthroughs to systematic capability enhancement. Furthermore, CECEP has made notable progress in AI-enabled digital development. 

The meeting underscored the importance of adhering to Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era and implementing the directives of the Party Central Committee, the State Council and the State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission regarding technological innovation. CECEP emphasized the need to strengthen Party leadership in technological innovation, enhance core competencies, and prioritize the construction of a robust technological innovation system. The company will focus on achieving breakthroughs in core technologies, enhancing original innovation capabilities, accelerating the transformation and application of scientific and technological achievements, and promoting the integration of AI with industry.

The conference outlined six key tasks for CECEP's future focus: 1. Optimizing and enhancing the technological innovation system. 2. Stimulating the vitality and motivation of technological innovation through aligned efforts. 3. Targeting core technologies in key fields. 4. Promoting deep integration between technological and industrial innovation. 5. Accelerating industrial renewal and upgrades through AI integration. 6. Strengthening Party leadership to guarantee technological innovation.

CECEP urged all units and subsidiaries to implement the conference's directives, emphasizing the importance of building independent innovation capabilities to promote high-level technological independence, construct a modern industrial system, and develop new productive forces.

Attendees included department heads from CECEP headquarters, leaders from second- and third-level subsidiaries, technology and digitalization leads, leading technology and digital talents, and heads of technology and digital management departments, participating both in person and remotely.
