On May 13th to 14th, the 3rd China International Conference on Climate Investment and Finance, co-hosted by CNEPG and the China Environmental Science Society, was successfully held.
Themed "Carbon Peak Path, Dual Drive of Green Innovation: Climate Investment and Finance Empowering a Green and Low-Carbon Future", the conference featured a main forum and six parallel sub-forums. Focused on climate investment and finance, discussions revolved around topics such as standards and regulations, international experiences and information disclosure. Policymakers, financial institutions, investment entities and research institutions from both domestic and international spheres were invited to participate, facilitating discussions on policy dynamics, sharing the latest research findings, and exchanging industry best practices.
In his address, Song Xin, Chairman of CECEP, emphasized that climate change is one of the serious challenges facing humanity, and actively addressing it is a common mission for all. The 20th Party Congress report explicitly states the need to coordinate industrial restructuring, pollution control, ecological conservation and climate change response, actively and steadily promoting peak carbon emissions and carbon neutrality. Over the years, central enterprises, under the guidance of the State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission of the State Council, have taken the lead, integrating the concept of green and low-carbon development into their production and operation processes. They have continuously intensified efforts in energy conservation, emission reduction and carbon reduction. As a central enterprise primarily engaged in energy conservation and environmental protection, CECEP has consistently followed the guidance of Xi Jinping thought on eco-civilization, actively practicing the concept of "Lucid waters and lush mountains are invaluable assets". Their mission is to "make the sky bluer, the mountains greener, the water clearer, and life better", dedicated to enhancing the foundation of green and high-quality economic and social development.
The keynote speech segment was chaired by Zhu Qingfeng, Chief Accountant of CECEP and Deputy Director-General and Secretary-General of CIFA. Keynote speeches were delivered by representatives from various institutions, including the Agricultural Bank of China, China National Salt Industry Corporation, Global Energy Interconnection Development and Cooperation Organization, Hengfeng Bank, International Sustainability Standards Board, and China International Engineering Consulting Corporation.
The main forum of the conference also held the "2023 Climate-Friendly Banking Financial Institutions" release ceremony, unveiling a total of six climate-friendly banking financial institutions.
One of the six parallel sub-forums, titled "Local Practices and Innovations in Climate Investment and Finance Pilot Projects", hosted by the CECEP Ecological Product Development Research Center, focused on sharing excellent practices and achievements of pilot regions in line with the "dual-carbon" goals. The forum aimed to continue exploring innovative pathways for future climate investment and finance pilots.
